إِنَّ اللهَ وَمَلاَئِكَتَه يُصَلُّوْنَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ أمَنُوْا صَلُّوْا عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوْا تَسْلِيْمًا

‘Tell me my beloved, how shall I create you’.

Welcoming the Month of Ramadan

Ramadan is derived from ramdaa’ which means “sun-baked,” perhaps a reference to the pangs of fasting.

Anas (r) said that when the month of Ramadan came the Prophet (s) said: “Glory to Allah! What are you facing now! What is coming ahead!” `Umar ibn al-Khattab (r) said: “My father’s life for you, and my mother’s! O Prophet of Allah, what is it? Did you receive revelation, or is an enemy coming?” He replied: “No, but the month of Ramadan has come, in which Allah forgives all the people of this Community.” He also said: “If Allah’s servants knew what Ramadan was, they would have wished it lasted for the whole year.” (Read More »)

Merits of Sha`ban

Sha`ban is one of the meritorious months for which we find particular instructions in the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad . It is reported in authentic ahadith that Prophet Muhammad , used to fast most of the month in Sha`ban. These fasts are supererogatory (nafl) and well deserving of reward, for Sha`ban is the month immediately preceding the month of Ramadan. The Prophet mentioned in a hadith, “Rajab is the month of Allah, Sha`ban is my month and Ramadan is the month of the Nation”. (Read More »)
